Better Beauty

Do you use lotions? Sunscreen? Makeup? Take a look at these numbers…

Less than 10% off what is in our products are tested for safety. I don’t know about you, but I find that maddening.

I’ve partnered with Beautycounter, a brand who’s mission and products I have fallen in love with. The mission is to put safer products into the hands of everyone!

It all started having tried the Beautycounter makeup remover wipes. I felt like they actually washed my face instead of lathering more chemicals onto it. I loved the wipes and purchased some (including some eye cream), but my current makeup worked just fine so I figured that was good enough.

Soon after, I found out of was pregnant with baby #2. I signed up for The Bump so I knew what size fruit baby was throughout the pregnancy (very important, ha!). They send emails periodically and I received one that stated, “Skincare Ingredients to Avoid During Pregnancy.”  I went through my makeup, shampoos, lotions, creams, sunscreen and EVERY SINGLE INGREDIENT was found. I did more research. I was disgusted. These ingredients are proven to cause serious health problems not only with me, but also my unborn baby. I was unknowingly lathering harmful substances onto my face and body every day. I immediately returned to the Beautycounter website and purchased safer options. “Heck, I may not like them but its worth a try.” Let me clarify, I was a drugstore $3 eye shadow girl. I bought what I needed and that was that. I’ve watched maybe one YouTube video on how to do a cat eye and that was as exciting as my makeup routine got.

But when my Beautycounter box arrived I was like a kid on Christmas. It was 9pm when I got the chance to open it and I took out all the makeup and tried it out. Y’all. I loved it. Not only the product itself, but the feeling that it was SAFE and extensively researched. No researching needed on my part.

Fast forward a few months and it was weighing on my chest that I didn’t want to keep silent of this gem I had found. I wanted to shout it to the world, my family and my friends (and I wanted the discount, haha!). I have joined with Beautycounter to promote clean skin care and get safer products into the hands of everyone.
